St Patricks College redevelopment comprised of the construction of the Edmund Rice Centre, a 2 Level purpose built facility for General learning Areas and Administration functions and the refurbishment of the existing Middle School campus.

Being a fully functional educational facility throughout the entire construction period, numerous operational issues were required to be overcome due to the staged nature of the redevelopment especially the maintenance of existing essential services.

Key engineering features of the project included:

  • Addressable Fire Detection and Occupancy Warning systems

  • Presence sensing for various air-conditioning and electrical systems control through the use of 360° ultrasonic motion detectors.

  • Lighting throughout utilised the latest in LED technology coupled with DSI control systems to allow sophisticated daylight harvesting and automated dimming.

  • Exit and Emergency lighting installations

  • Wi-Fi infrastructure and networks to enable both Staff and Students wireless internet access

  • Fully networked CCTV system via dedicated Cat 6 cabling

  • Public access and building facade lighting installations

  • Intruder detection and access control installations

  • Audio/Visual systems inclusive of short throw projectors and interactive whiteboards for state of the art educational purposes.

  • Digital signage messaging system in lieu of solely traditional audio Public Address systems

  • Site power infrastructure including new Main Switchboard and mains cabling reticulation

  • Safety initiatives such as GPO’s fitted with auto shutter mechanisms to prevent access live terminals

  • Natural gas fuelled Variable Refrigerant Volume A/C systems

  • Specialised exhaust ventilation systems for items such as Kilns

  • Vertical Transportation Systems
