Fred French in Launceston is a high-quality, customised aged care facility complete with outdoor green spaces and vibrant lifestyle programs. The project consisted of an additional 2 level, 12 bed wing, a new 3 level 8 bed wing complete with under ground car park, new commercial laundry and kitchen facilities.
Key engineering features of the project included:
Use of latest technologies and alternative solutions for an integrated wireless nurse call system with redundancy, Wi-Fi telephony complete with fire and security system alarm messaging.
Occupancy sensing for various exhaust and electrical systems control.
Lighting throughout utilised the latest in LED technology coupled with control systems.
General power, data and USB charger outlets
Wi-Fi infrastructure and networks to enable VLAN of both Staff and Residents wireless internet access couple with resident care software installations other than acting on a platform for these services.
Public access and car park lighting installations.
Emergency back-up power systems including diesel fired generator and UPS systems.
Body protected areas to AS 3003.
Integrated access control and security systems including CCTV and intercoms.
Underfloor electric heating systems.
Natural gas distribution system mainly for the purpose of heated hot water systems.
Hydronic heating systems to residential areas including, distribution pipework, control manifolds, hydronic pipework, wall mounted hydronic convector panels and all controls.
Variable Refrigerant Volume A/C systems.
Commercial Kitchen capture exhaust hoods and filtration systems.
Laundry systems incorporating natural gas, dryer exhausts, tempered make up air systems.
Stairwell pressurisation systems.
Miscellaneous ducted exhaust systems to service resident’s ensuites, garbage rooms, store rooms and the like.
Refrigerated food storage rooms with both low and medium temperature rooms.
DDC control technology for mechanical services systems control.
Fully sprinklered building to AS 2118.4.
Fire detection and occupant warning system to AS 1670.1.
